July is almost here, and one of Tallahassee's favorite summer traditions returns when the Celebrate America event takes place at Tom Brown Park. Each year the City and the Celebrate America organization combine forces to sponsor the annual summer festival. This year's event will be held on Friday, July 4, beginning at 3:00pm.

The event features live music and performing arts from three stages, food vendors galore with a variety of summer cuisine, and the annual Naturalization Ceremony welcoming new citizens to our nation. On the main stage, Bud Light presents a free concert withThe Georgia Satellites and the Atlanta Rhythm Section as the headline entertainers (no video, filming or recording of this concert is permitted). The highlight of the evening, of course, will be the spectacular fireworks show at 9:30pm, sponsored by City of Tallahassee Your Own Utilities.

StarMetro will also offer free shuttles to Tom Brown Park from the Koger Office Center on Capital Circle Southeast, beginning at 5pm; return shuttles back to Koger begin once the fireworks show is complete.

Freedom, flags, fireworks, food, family, fun, and a free concert sponsored by Bud Light featuring The Georgia Satellites and the Atlanta Rhythm Section, and special guest appearance by Tallahassee's Own Eric Durrance, will make the upcoming 4th of July celebration at Tom Brown Park the most exciting Celebrate America event in its 23 year history!

Celebrate America and all of its dedicated sponsors are proud to present this magnificent family-oriented celebration of our independence!

Special Guest Appearance by Tallahassee's Own Eric Durrance

Eric celebrates the release of his new single entitled "Angels Fly Away.” (Wind-up Nashville)  Written by Craig Wiseman (Billboard's "Songwriter of the Year"-2006) and Dallas Davidson ("Honky Tonk Badonkadonk") of Big Loud Shirt, Nashville's premier independent publisher, "Angels Fly Away" is a tune Eric says he wished he had written.  Eric had just endured the untimely death of his long-time manager and close personal friend, Dan Godwin, and just weeks later; the song was pitched to him. "The song landed in my hands as if hand-delivered from God. It's a ‘Live Like You Were Dying' song with the message that every day is a gift and we're not promised a tomorrow," Eric says. "It's a feel good, sad song.  I dedicate this single and the entire project to Dan."  The single has an easy-does-it melody and features Eric's warm and cradling vocals as he delivers a story that is truly close to home.

Durrance's complete CD, ANGELS FLY AWAY, was produced by Teddy Gentry (Alabama, Emerson Drive) and country music producer Mark Bright (Rascal Flatts/Carrie Underwood).   The CD features five self-penned compositions and/or co-writes. Wind-up Records is set to release ANGELS FLY AWAY on September 16, 2008.
